Batesville -- Thomas Brett Pugh, 51, of Batesville died Sunday, May 26, in Quitman County. He was born in Starkville Oct. 20, 1961, to Thomas Beverly and Elaine Ferrell Pugh.
He was a former resident of Greenwood, where he attended Pillow Academy through junior high. He and his family moved to Panola County in 1975. He graduated from West Panola Academy and received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and entomology from Mississippi State University. He worked in farm management, entomology and sales. He was a member of Independence Presbyterian Church USA
He is survived by his parents; his son, Thomas Brennan Pugh of Houston; aunts Sondra Luttrell (Bob) of Germantown, Tenn., Yvonne Moody (Ernie) of Versailles, Ky., and Claudette Pickens (Bryan) of Knoxville, Tenn. ; cousins Michelle Decker (Jim) of Knoxville, Tenn., Melanie Stigall (Rob) of Powder Springs, Ga., Melinda Thedford (Kevin) of Chattanooga, Tenn., David Pickens (Ann) of Brentwood, Tenn., Zach Luttrell (Amber) of Jackson, Tenn., and Shane Luttrell of Germantown, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. T.B. Pugh of Batesville and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ferrell of Ashland.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, with private burial to follow in Ashland Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or charity of the donor’s choice.
