K. A. "Bo" Thomson, 82, husband of Nancy Herron Thomson passed away on the morning of May 25, 2013 in his Batesville home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Batesville, MS with Reverend Ed Temple and Reverend Ed Woodall officiating. Inurnment will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The Thomson family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the church.
Mr. Thomson was born July 19, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, AL to William T. and Attie Bell Kimbrell Thomson. He was graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in agricultural engineering. Bo was employed by Indiana Farm Bureau Cooperative State and County Association where he designed farm buildings and grain installations. Many may remember Mr. Thomson because of his service as lay pastor for West Terre Haute First and Bethesda United Methodist Church Churches, in West Terre Haute, IN, and he locally served at both the Friars Point and Lula United Methodist Churches in the Mississippi delta.
Mr. Thomson served Weblos and Boy Scout Troops for a number of years. He was president of Rockville, Indiana Rotary Club and an active Sunday School teacher who served on various church boards and committees in Indiana and Mississippi. Since 1999, Bo was a member of the Batesville First United Methodist Church. Mr. Thomson made an impression on many lives in and around the Batesville area, because of his work as the co-founder of the local Parkinson's Disease Support Group. Mr. Thomson proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean war as a Military Policeman.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Herron Thomson of Batesville, MS; 2 Daughters: Laura Thomson Garcia and husband Tom of Arlington, TX, Carla Thomson Keafer and husband Kim of Frankfort, IN; 2 Sons: Kim H. Thomson and wife SunAe of Brierfield, AL, David S. Thomson and wife Madonna of Mililani, HI, Ten Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Rebecca Thomson of Demopolis, AL; 2 Brothers: Matthew Thomson of Newnan, GA and Tom Boone Thomson of Macon, GA; Aunt, Zelda Anderson of Tuscaloosa, AL and a Uncle, Fuller Kimbrell of Fayette, AL. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
