Ruth A. Colson

Ruth A. Colson, age 74, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Mrs. Colson was born October 7, 1938 in Lambert, MS to the late Maurice and Myrtle Tutor Applewhite. Ruth graduated from Crowder High School in 1956 and went on to attend the Memphis School of Commerce. She was a retired bookkeeper and accountant. Mrs. Colson was a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church in Batesville, MS. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, David Lee Colson of Batesville, MS; daughter, Angela Colson of Southaven, MS; twin children, Cheryl Colson of Brighton, TN and Deryl Colson of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Helen Willis of Southaven, MS, Glenda Bruce of of Olive Branch, MS and her brother, Billy Applewhite, Sr. of Batesville, MS.
