Audrey Hall Darby Simpson, age 85, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. Mrs. Simpson is the mother of Panola County Sheriff, Dennis Darby.
The funeral service for Mrs. Simpson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenny McMinn officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until service time on Friday at Wells Funeral Home.
Ms. Audrey was born on November 2, 1927 to Walter Edward & Lovie Weeks Hall in Pope, MS. She graduated from Courtland High School and went on to attend Governors State University. Ms. Simpson worked as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of Sauk Trail Baptist Church.
To cherish her memory she leaves 3 daughters, Judy Darby Smith of Wadsworth, TX, Janet Darby Stewart of Jonesboro, AR, Rita Darby McArthur of Sardis, 2 sons, Dennis L. Darby of Batesville, and Eddie K. Darby of Monee, IL, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Flora King Canton of Southaven, MS, Annie Ruth Hughes Criswell of Batesville and Joann Kiihnl of Enid, MS along with one brother, Larry Hall of Batesville, MS.
Those who have preceded her include her parents, 4 sisters, Frances June Hall, Dorothy Mae Hendrix, Ivy Dale McMinn and Wanda Sue York, 3 brothers, Lois Hall, Walter Gene Hall and Steve Hall.
Serving as Ms. Audrey's Pall Bearers: Byron Brown, Brandon Darby, Brett Darby, Joshua Stewart, Norman Hughes, Robbie Kiihnl, Catlin McArthur, Brian Sorensen, Matthew Sorensen and Nathan Sorensen.
