Mrs. Virginia Brooks Holmes, age 87, died Thursday, 2/28/13, at the Golden Triangle Hospital, Columbus, MS.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 3/2/13, in Augusta Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Arkansas.
Mrs. Virginia was born in Augusta, Arkansas on August 22, 1925, to John William & Lottie Baker Brooks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbus. Virginia was very active in the Business & Professional Women's Club while living in Hot Springs, AR. Mrs. Holmes celebrated 65 years of marriage to Mr. Herbert in January of 2013. They both complimented one another in all aspects of life's endeavours. During their time in Augusta, AR, Hurbert worked diligently in the funeral home industry and Virginia owned a flower shop. When they moved to Hot Springs, AR, she became the bookkeeper for Mr. Herbert in the funeral home and once they settled in Columbus, MS, she owned a flower shop and Mr. Herbert Co-owned Gunter & Holmes Funeral Home. They were truly a couple to be admired.
To cherish her memory she leaves her husband, Herbert Holmes of Columbus, their daughter, Beverly Holmes McIntyre (Floyd) also of Columbus, 1 Grandchild, Margaret Virginia McIntyre and 1 Great Grandchild, Ann Kinsley Cline.
