Floy Belle Newman Lipe

Floy Belle Newman Lipe, age 91, widow of James Ray Lipe, passed away at her home in Pope, MS, surrounded by her family, Thursday afternoon, October 11, 2012. The funeral service for Mrs. Lipe will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, 10/14/12, at the Batesville Church of Christ with Mr. Michael Bates & Mr. Robert Rawson officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Pope, MS. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, 10/13/12, at Wells Funeral Home. Mrs. Lipe was born on December 20, 1920, in Enid, MS, to Oscar Vernon & Jessie Blanche Martin Newman. She graduated from Enid High School in 1938. Mrs. Belle was the Co-Founder and Partner of Lipe Well & Supply Co., James R. Lipe Gas Company Founder and Editor of the Driller's Bit for MS Water Well Contractor's Assoc. She was a Charter member of the Batesville Church of Christ and also a Charter member and past President of the Pope Woman's Club. Mrs. Lipe authored two books of poetry, "Pieces of My Heart" and "More Pieces of My Heart". Among her hobbies, she enjoyed quilting, traveling, entertaining, homemaking and gardening. Many people will remember Mrs. Lipe from her Bible teaching. To cherish her memory she leaves a daughter, Molly Lipe Dawidow and husband Michal of Sopot, Poland, 2 sons, David Larrimore "Larry" Lipe and wife, Rebecca of Batesville, MS, and Casey Ray Lipe of Batesville, MS, 5 grandchildren, Lacey Rae Lipe Moore, David Liles Lipe, Annabelle Dawidow, Erika Casey Lipe and Jesse Ray Lipe along with 2 great granddaughters, Reaghan Moore and Rielly Moore. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, James Ray Lipe, beloved grandson, Michael Ray Dawidow, four sisters, Inez Taylor, Imogene Newman Adcock, Tommie Newman Williford and Elizabeth "Baby" Taylor and two brothers, Lewis Newman and Oscar Vernon "Sonny" Newman.
