Video Memorial TributeOscar Hiram Billingsley, age 80, widower of Agnes Sorek Billingsley, died Sunday afternoon, 9/2/12, in Memphis, TN. A funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 9/5/12, in Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 24016 Highway 6 East, Batesville, MS. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home on Wednesday, 9/5/12. Mr. Billingsley was born on Jan. 7, 1932, to Robert & Helen Walker Billingsley in Wheeler, MS. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Tech. Sgt. having served during the Vietnam era. After his years of service with the Air Force he began working for the Mississippi Highway Department, later named MS Dept. of Transportation, where he began working on the survey crew in the Project Office. After 22 years with the Hwy. Dept, he retired as an Engineer Technician Certified, Senior. He was a Master Mason in the Walton Lodge #423 in Walton, Indiana, and later joined the Panola Mason Lodge #66. He served as a Mason for over 51 years. Mr. Billingsley was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church, in Batesville. He leaves his daughter, Mellie M. Billingsley of Vicksburg, MS, and his sister, LeeDell Billingsley Dowdle of Senatobia, MS. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon David Billingsley.
