James "Jim" Conner Breedlove

Video Memorial TributeJames "Jim" Conner Breedlove, age 92, husband of Billie Foutch Smith Breedlove, died peacefully Friday evening, 8/3/12, at his home in Batesville, MS. On Monday, 8/6/12, at 11:00 a.m. funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Melodie Jones Pointon, Rev. Paul Husband and Step-Son, Vincent Bryant Smith, III, at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Forrest Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Breedlove was born on April 23, 1920 to Bartholomew Loney & Bertie Luetta Smith Breedlove in Prentiss County, (Booneville) MS. He completed high school at Charleston High and went on receive his degree in Business Admin. from the University of MS. Mr. Breedlove was a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Instructor as well as a Bomber Pilot Instructor during WWII. Jim owned and operated Western Auto Stores in Leland, MS and Sheffield, AL before establishing The Breedlove Feed Mill in Batesville in the 1950's. He was a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon & Elder. Mr. Breedlove was a very active member of the community having served as a Rotary Club member for 60+ years where he also served as President of the Club; a Mason; member of the Silver Wing Association; Flying Rotarians Association; Member of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution, the Desoto Patriots Chapter; member of Panola Geneological Society, Chairman of the Panola Co., Republican Party and served as a Gideon. His first wife, Willice Wise Breedlove, preceded him in 1982, and later he married Billie Foutch Smith Breedlove, of Atlanta, GA. Other survivors include, his daughter, Diane Wise Breedlove (James Wallace "Jimmy") Eubanks of Tunica, MS; a step-son, Vincent Bryant Smith, III  (Deborah) of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Tara Lea Eubanks (Paul) Sartor of West Monroe, LA and Brigid Breedlove Eubanks (William) Kay of Germantown, TN; one grandson, James Wallace "Trey" (Angela) Eubanks, III; eleven great grandchildren, five nieces and several cousins. In addtion to his parents and his first wife, Mr. Breedlove was also preceded in death by a son, James Conner "Jim" Breedlove, Jr. and two brothers, Loney Christel Breedlove of Coffeeville, MS and Harold Raymond Breedlove of Charleston, MS. The family asks that memorials be given to the Batesville Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 121 Eureka St., Batesville, MS 38606 or to the charity of the donors choice. Serving as Pallbearers for Mr. Breedlove's service: Brett Sartor, Conner Eubanks, Nathan Eubanks, Dick Monteith, Lloyd Campbell, Russell Paulk, Jr., Buddy Gray, Briggs Smith, Jerry Lightsey and George Carlson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Howard Holden, Normand Cote, Danny Wayne Smith, Robert Owen Riddick, Johnny Spencer, George Randolph, Dennis Lightsey, Tommy Marshall and Rotary Members.
