Funeral services for Alex will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 5/12/12, at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville with Reverend Derrick Simmons & Reverend Keith Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, 5/11/12, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Alex was born to Annette Broome & Gene Shields on January 22, 1987 in Greenville, MS. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked as a clerk for both the UPS Store and for UPS in Batesville. She is survived by her son, Bryson Garrett Allen of Pope, MS; 3 sisters, Cassidy Shields Logan of Batesville, Scarlett Shields Robison of Batesville and Brittany Shields McCullar of Rogers, AR; 2 brothers, Heath Shields of Marion, AR & Brandon McMinn of Gulfport, MS; father, Gene Shields of Batesville and mother, Annette Broome Demaidi of Batesville; paternal grandparents, Howard Shields and the late Louise Shields of Batesville; maternal grandparents, Dr. & Mrs. Carlock Broome of Pope, MS and Mr. & Mrs. Richard Patton of Oxford, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory, for her son, Bryson, at Covenant Bank, P.O. Box 1627, Batesville, MS 38606. Tony Logan, Jonathan McCullar, Patrick Robison, Dylan Wright, Heath Shields & Jacob Kemker will be serving as pallbearers. Bayley Shields & Taylor Shields will serve as honorary bearers.
