Click Here To View Video Memorial TributeEugene C. Horton, age 84, of Southaven, MS, died Thursday evening 4/19/12 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS. Funeral service will be 2:00 O'clock P.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Lambert Cemetery, Lambert, MS. Reverend Larry Kilgore of Crowder Baptist Church will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Wells Funeral Home. Mr. Horton was born November 2, 1927 in Lambert, MS to the late Reetie Eldridge and Willie Mae Mitchell Horton. Eugene was a warhouse foreman for 38 years before retiring from G.E., and then went on the road as a truck driver for the next 18 years. Eugene was also a honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WW II and the Korean War. He was a member of Lambert United Methodist Church. Mr. Horton is survived by his daughter, Janie Carol Horton Jones of Southaven, MS; step-daughter, Oma Marie Austin Boone of Horn Lake, MS; step-son, Justin Tracy Austin of Booneville, MS; sister, Mary Ann Horton Austin of Crowder, MS; brother, Carroll Eldridge Horton of Lawton, OK; uncle Royal C. Mitchell of Lambert, MS; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Lee White Horton; sister, Frances Horton Williams and a step-son, William Arnold Austin, Jr. The family requests memorial be sent to Crowder Baptist Church, 300 Perkins St., Crowder, MS 38622 or Blue Lake Baptist Church of Crowder, MS.
