Funeral services for 61 year old Margaret "Becky" Nelson Irvine of Schleswig, Iowa, will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa, with a graveside service at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery on Monday, January 30, 2012, at 1:00 PM in Batesville, MS. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. She passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 form an auto accident near Denison, Iowa. Wells Funeral Home of Batesville, MS is in charge of local arrangements. Margaret Rebecca Nelson Irvine was born September 3, 1950 in Batesville, MS, to Elijah and Margaret Schultz Nelson. Becky received her education in the South Panola School System, graduating with the class of 1968. Becky attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College in Senatobia, MS for two years where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; and then received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Misissippi, "Ole Miss", in Oxford, MS in 1972. Becky was united in marriage to James Irvine on January 4, 1981, at the United Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa. She worked as a teacher, librarian and then as a correspondent for the Sioux City Journal. Becky was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was determined to do things her own way and was not a follower, but a self-imposed decision maker. She also loved to read, instilling the importance of this to her family. Becky was very invloved with her "sons" activities and always kept in close contact with the family, calling them often; especially if they were traveling. She loved to bake and would send care packages of cookies to her sons while at college. She also enjoyed caring for her cats. Becky was a member of the United Methodist Church in Denison. Becky was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her Husband, Jim and three Sons: Brandon, Brennan and Braeden Irvine; all of Schleswig and other relatives and friends.
