Click Here To View Video Memorial TributeMartha Quay Reed, age 80, passed away Friday evening, January 6, 2012 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Batesville, MS. Services will be 12:00 noon Monday, January 9, 2012 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends from 10:00 A.M. Monday until service time. She was born September 9, 1931 in Vance, MS to the late John Robert and Mary Alice Youngblood Wilkins. Mrs. Reed was a retired restaurantuer having owned and operated several restaurants in Batesville, MS. and surrounding comunities. Mrs. Reed is the mother of Linda Reed Stroup (Cecil) of Walnut, MS, Eddie Reed of Amory, MS, Bill Reed, Jr. (Connie) and Bobby Reed (Rebecca) both of Batesville, MS, and David Reed of Sardis, MS. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Rivers Stroup (Katrina), Summer Stroup, Michael Stroup (Holly), Eddie Reed, Jr., Alika Reed Logan (Johnathan), Lance Reed, Dusty Reed, Carly Reed Benton (Justin), Christopher Reed and Zachary Reed; seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Reed leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Betty Faulkner and Robert McMillan both of Batesville, MS, Danny Vawter of Collierville, TN, Bobby Johnson of Vardaman, MS, Tommy Evans of Holcombe, MS, Ken Wilkins of Oxford, MS, Sue Gardner of Jackson, MS and several great nieces and nephews. Preceding Mrs. Reed in death was her five sisters, Lenore "Toad" McMillan Still, Ruby Dean Pierce, Lillie Mae Pugh Reed, Imma Jean Evans Durant, Catherine Ruthell Vawter and two brothers, Wayne Rowell Wilkins and James Ray Wilkins. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Reed's memory be sent to LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, 50 North Dunlap, Memphis, TN 38103-9984.
