Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, 11/25/11, at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Urban officiating. Interment will follow in Shelby Cemetery, Shelby, MS. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Wells Funeral Home. Mr. Gates was born in St. Louis, MO on November 10, 1942 to Melvin Conrad & Ola Kellett Gates. He was a farmer and a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hale Gates of Courtland, MS; 1 daughter, Marsha Gates Williams (Dave R.)of Courtland, MS; 2 sons, Kenneth T. Gates of Pope, MS, Justin G. Gates (Annette) of Stuttgart, AR; 12 grandchildren: Jenny Gates, Lara Atchison (J.R.), Whitney Overstreet (Charles), April Capwell, Kelley Capwell, Davi Jo Williams, Michael Williams, Jonathan Brooks, Will Gates, Daniel Gates, Dylon Gates & Jagger Brower; 8 Great Grandchildren, Heidi, Austin & Chase Overstreet, Tristen Mason, Taylor & Tyler Atchison, Melanie & Allison Williams.
