Click Here To View Video Memorial TributeChester Norris Wray age 89 of Courtland, Ms., husband of Sara Lois Darby Wray, died Saturday morning 6/4/11 at his home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday 6/5/11 at Wells Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Self and Dr. Tommy Snyder officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. Wray was born July 27, 1921 in the Tocowa community to Andrew Oliver and Addie Pearl Selby Wray. Norris was a Station Foreman for Tennessee Gas Company and was also a millwright for many years, but his passion was farming and raising cattle. Mr. Wray was a Veteran of WW II in the United States Marine Corp. Norris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Batesville, Ms. where he served as a Deacon for over 35 years. Mr. Wray is survived by his wife: Sara Lois Darby Wray- Courtland, Ms.; two sons: Danny N. (Kay) Wray- Memphis, Tn.; Gary T. (Kathy) Wray- Courtland, Ms.; Sister: Imogene Wray Williford- Pope, Ms.; Brother: Reed Wray- Little Rock, Ar.. Five Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren. Norris was preceeded in death by his parents: Andrew and Addie Wray and a sister: Joan Wray Campbell. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church 104 Panola Street Batesville, Ms. 38606 or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM Sunday 6/5/11 until service time at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers are Russ Darby, Tim Campbell, Steve Campbell, Scootie Murphree, Bobby Benson and Wade Meek. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Joe B. Hartley Sunday School Class.
