Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Goodhope Cemetery in Batesville, MS. Reverend Ray Legge will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ballard was born September 12, 1933 in Rayville, LA to the late Lathan Wilson and Ninnie Miller Wilson Tullos. Mrs. Stella Ballard was a member of Pharsalia Baptist Church and also attended First Baptist Church in Batesville, MS where she was a member of the W.M.U. During Rev. Ballard's ministry, Mrs. Ballard was always beside him, whether it be at church, voluntering for Baptist Hospice and the former North MS Hospice or supporting his ministry around the State of Mississippi and even in other countries around the globe. She took pride in watching her children and grandchildren grow and accomplish their goals and achievements. Mrs. Stella Ballard also loved her friends and spending time in fellowship with them.
Mrs. Ballard is survived by her two daughters, Linda Ballard McCreary (Rev. Bill) of Ripley, MS, Sharon Ballard Woods (Glynn) of New Ulm, TX; two sons, Phillip Ballard of Ridgeland, MS, Gerald Ballard of Batesville, MS; sister, Lois Wilson Goodwin of Newellton, LA; brother, Bobby Tullos of Murfreesboro, TN; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by parents, husband, son, Walter E. Ballard; sister, Elaine Reese and brother, J.C. Wilson.
