Howard Leon Sanders

Howard Leon Sanders, age 77, passed away with his family by his side Friday morning, April 15, 2011 at his home in Batesville, MS. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Self & Dr. Tommy Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Batesville, MS. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until service time on Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders was born December 9, 1933 in Sardis, MS to the late Rex Howard and Eunice Fite Sanders. He was a retired construction inspector for the Mississippi Department of Transportation and served his country in the U.S Army as a Corporal from 1955 to 1957. Mr. Sanders was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville, MS. On March 11, 1959, in Sardis, MS, Howard married his wife, Linda D. Joyce Dorr Sanders. Survivors of Mr. Sanders include his wife, Joyce Sanders of Batesville, MS; daughter, Lynn Sanders Respess of Paragould, AR; two sons, Steve Howard Sanders of Lake St. Louis, MO, Clay Sanders of Pope, MS and fifteen grandchildren.
