Funeral services are 2:00 O'Clock P.M. Sunday 3/27/11 at Wells Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Snyder and Reverend Dennis Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery Courtland, Ms.. Visitation will be from 12:00 O'Clock P.M. Sunday 3/27/11 until service time at 2:00 O'Clock P.M..
Mrs. Benson was born October 23, 1922 in Camden, Mississippi to William Anderson and Lizzie Ann Greenwalt Cauthen. Jean graduated from Mississippi School for Women with her degree in education which was common then. She started her teaching in central Mississippi. Then she moved to Pope, Mississippi to teach at Pope School. After teaching at Pope School she then transfered to South Panola School in Batesville, Mississippi to teach Home Econmics. There she started Future Homemakers of America Club. Jean retired with 37 Years of teaching school. After retirement she enjoyed teaching sewing, cooking, and teaching nutrition. Also she was active in missions group, Eva Lee WMU group and Explorers Bible Study where she was a group leader. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Batesville, Ms..
Survivors are a Daughter: Lynn Benson McGregor (Scott)- Courtland, Ms.; 2 Sons: William E. "Billy" Benson (Denise) and Robert Newton "Bobby" Benson (Patricia) both of Courtland, Ms.. Four Grandchildren and Seven Great-Grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Randy Boren, Randy Willis, Gary Wray, Nichols Sullivan, Jim Herron, Jimmy Brown and Kent Rowsey.
Mrs. Benson was preceeded in death by her husband, parents, 2 Sisters: Ruth Cauthen Cotton and Polly Cauthen Montgomery; Brother: Lewis Cauthen; Half-Sister: Bama Hart and a Half-Brother: William Cauthen.
