Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Pat Ludlam officiating. Interment to follow at Longtown Cemetery in Crenshaw, MS. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday, March 25, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home. Mr. Mathews was born January 6, 1966 in Sardis, MS to Gertie O'Conner Mathews and the late Donald Mathews. He is a member of First United Methodist Church and Jailer for the Panola County Sheriff Department with 13 years in law enforcement. Mr. Mathews also served in the United States Navy during the Gulf War. Survivors include his sons, David Jacob Mathews of Batesville, MS; Jeremy Mitchell Mathews of Batesville, MS; Caleb O'Conner Mathews of Batesville, MS; and Jordan Blake Mathews of Senatobia, MS; mother, Gertie O'Conner Mathews of Batesville, MS; brother, Donald "Bo" Mathews of Batesville, MS; and 2 grandchildren, Gage Rowan Mathews and Chloe Nicole Mathews. Pallbearers will be Billy Lambert, Kelvin Taylor, Robert Ales, Dean Jones, Edward Dickson and Denver Donahou. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Vanlandingham, Otis Griffin, Andy Estridge, Gerald Parrish, Bobby Meek & Clyde Estridge.
