Click here to view Video Memorial TributeAllie Parks, Jr., widower of the late Essie Edan Sanders Parks, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at his residence in Batesville, MS. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Hickman City Cemetery in Hickman, KY. Interment will follow in Hickman Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville, MS. Mr. Parks was born March 12, 1920 in Hickman, KY to the late Allie and Margaret Ridley Parks. He was a retired tire builder for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Memphis, TN. On November 11, 1944, Mr. Parks joined the U.S. Army at Camp Atterbury, IN and was Honorably Discharged on April 14, 1946 with the rank of Corporal after serving in WW II. Allie was also a member of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Mr. Parks leaves behind a daughter, Linda Dale Penny of Memphis, TN; two sons, Richard Parks of Batesville, MS, Marvin E. Parks of Germantown, TN; a sister, Mary Farrell of Sykestown, MO; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Norma Jean Parks; two sisters, Josephine Matthews, Doris Hayden; three brothers, Harry, Robert, and James Parks.
