Funeral services will be Wednesday 1/12/11 at 2:00 O'clock PM at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Jones and Dr. Tommy Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with full military honors. Active pallbearers will be Otis Johnson, Mike Freeman, Billy Land, George Goodnight, Cliff Norwood and Clint Norwood. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joe B. Hartley Sunday School Class. Mr. Norwood was born October 15, 1931 in Cruger, Ms. to William C. and Madie Leona Sanders Norwood. Jim was retired Chief Master Sergeant with 26 years of service, serving his country in United States Air Force during the Korean War and two tours in the Vietnam War. Also he was Chief of Recruitment and Replacement with the VA Hospital. Mr. Norwood was a Under Age Veteran of Panola County. His military decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Airman Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and Joint Services Commendation Medal. Jim was a member of VFW Post #7175 in Millington, Tn.. Also he was a officer in Batesville chapter of AARP. Mr. Norwood was a member of the First Baptist Church of Batesville, Ms. and a member of the Joe B. Hartley Sunday School Class. Survivors are his wife Lucille "Lucy" Nix Norwood- Batesville, Ms.; Daughter: Debra Hawkins Freeman- Bartlett, Tn.; Son: James L. Norwood, Jr.- Antioch, Ca.; Mother: Leona Sanders Norwood- Tupelo, Ms.; 4 Sisters: Ann Norwood Abernathy- Okolona, Ms.; Gertie Norwood McNelly- Pearl, Ms.; Marilyn Norwood Davis- Amory, Ms.; Minnie Norwood Sanders- Courtland, Ms.; 3 Brothers: John L. Norwood- Okolona, Ms.; Donnie R. Norwood- Marks, Ms.; Albert L. Norwood- Gulf Breeze, Fl.; 4 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Norwood is preceded in death by his Father: William C.
